GOVERNANCE

NM-AIST is an autonomous regional institution closely linked and networked with other AISTs but with strong national and regional ownership.  Buy-in contributions by countries in the region are invited to broaden the ownership, emphasizing on regional integration. Thus, ownership of the institution will eventually incorporate the Tanzania Government, countries in the East African region (starting with the East African Community (EAC) member states), the private sector and financial institutions.

The institute’s charter spells out, among other things, the governance structure and relationships with other AISTs, EAC and other parties. NM-AIST utilizes the services of international advisory bodies in matters related to academics (curricula, laboratory development, etc.), QC/QA as well as advice on staff hire and recruitment.
